Ikorodu, Lagos

Master Adeshina Iyanuoluwa, the Primary Six pupil of Ayangburen Primary School, Ikorodu, who emerged National Champion in the Aròkọ Writing Competition at the 50th Annual Conference of the Ẹgbẹ́ Akomolede Àti Àṣà Yorùbá Nàìjíríà ("Eko 2026"), has been honoured with a scholarship through secondary education by HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu.

The scholarship follows an earlier award by the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu, in recognition of the young champion's feat. Convinced that Iyanuoluwa deserved to be further celebrated, the Education Secretary, LGEA Ikorodu, Alhaji Taiwo Abiodun Odumbo, Esq., led a congratulatory visit to the Ayangburen's Palace, alongside the young scholar's parent and members of the Ẹgbẹ́ Akomolede Àti Àṣà Yorùbá, Ikorodu chapter — a visit that occasioned the Palace's own scholarship award.

Iyanuoluwa had earlier emerged winner at the Lagos State level before representing the State at the national finals held at the Federal Government College, Ijanikin, where Lagos placed 1st in the Primary category, competing against entries from Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Abuja and Kogi States.

Speaking at the Palace, the Education Secretary thanked the Ayangburen for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the premium the throne places on the education and cultural development of Ikorodu's children. He noted that Iyanuoluwa's feat reflected the depth of academic preparation within Ikorodu's public schools and commended his teachers and the management of Ayangburen Primary School for nurturing his talent.

Presenting the scholarship award, Alaiyeluwa, The Ayangbure of Ikorodu commended the young champion for flying the flag of Ikorodu and Lagos State on a national stage, and charged him to remain diligent in his studies, assuring him of the Palace's continued support through his secondary education.

Reacting to the honour, the Education Secretary described the scholarship as an encouragement not only to Iyanuoluwa, but to every pupil across Ikorodu's public schools, that excellence is seen, celebrated and rewarded.

The LGEA Ikorodu Education Family joins the Palace in celebrating Master Adeshina Iyanuoluwa and wishes him continued success in his academic pursuits.
