Today, Wednesday, 30th September 2026, I joined colleagues at the Engr. Adeyelu Olajide 2026 World Teachers Day Indoor Games Competition, organised by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ikorodu Branch, at Teachers House, Ikorodu, marking the opening ceremony of this year's World Teachers Day celebration.

In my remarks, I spoke on the essentiality of teachers as the hands that build, quietly, patiently, and often without applause. I shared that I am not an accidental teacher. Mine was an intentional path: applied to, studied for, and graduated as a Political Science Educationist. That choice has shaped how I see this profession, not as a fallback, but as a deliberate act of nation-building.

I enjoined teachers across Ikorodu to remain unflinching in their building strides, holding firm to the weight and worth of the work, even when it goes unseen.

To every teacher reading this — you are the hands that build. Keep building.
