Agbede, Ikorodu North LCDA, Lagos — Tuesday, 13th October 2026

The Nigerian Navy, on Tuesday, commissioned a newly constructed perimeter fence at Omolaiye Community Primary School, Agbede, Ikorodu North LCDA, Ikorodu, under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Projects Scheme, addressing a security and infrastructural deficit the school had endured for several years.

The project was sponsored by Rear Admiral Adedotun Olukayode Ayo-Vaughan, on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas. Proceedings opened with the arrival of invited guests and the Special Guest of Honour, followed by an interfaith prayer session, introduction of dignitaries, and a welcome address and project overview delivered by Rear Admiral Ayo-Vaughan.

In his goodwill message, the Education Secretary expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for the intervention, noting that it addressed a pressing need the school had grappled with for years and would now ensure a safe learning environment for both pupils and staff. In appreciation of the gesture, he announced that the LGEA would establish an Art and Craft Centre within the school premises, to be dedicated in honour of Rear Admiral Ayo-Vaughan, in recognition of his role in actualising the project.

Remarks were also delivered by Vice Admiral Kolawole Olumide Oguntuga, the representative of the Chief of the Naval Staff from the Directorate of Manning (DMAN), Naval Headquarters, and doubled as the Special Guest of Honour.

In a notable highlight of the event, the Nigerian Navy conferred an Award of Honour on the Education Secretary, Alhaji Taiwo Abiodun Odumbo, Esq., in recognition of his support for the project and his broader strides toward the holistic development of education in Ikorodu.

The Head Teacher of Omolaiye Community Primary School, Mrs Oyeneye Teniola delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the gesture and donation of a Laptop to the School.

Immediately after, the Special Guest of Honour and the representative of the Chief of the Naval Staff, led by the Sponsor, and alongside the Baale of Agbede Omolaye formally commissioned the project through the cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of the commissioning plaque. The event closed with a group photograph session.

The LGEA Ikorodu Education Family commends the Nigerian Navy for this intervention and reaffirms its commitment to partnering with security agencies and well-meaning stakeholders in the continued development of education across Ikorodu Division.
